Mortal Kombat: Classic Game, More Gore

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced the return of Mortal Kombat, the most ruthless installment of the monumental fighting game to date for release on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011. Mortal Kombat is being developed by the newly re-named NeatherRealm Studios, led by Mortal Kombat creator and creative director Ed Boon. Having literally defined the mature game category, Mortal Kombat makes a triumphant return to its violent roots in the fastest and most brutal installment to date. Fans will receive the Mortal Kombat they've been asking for, with fatalities presented in more detail than ever before.

In addition to reinventing the classic, Mortal Kombat is going to be introducing a number of new game-play features including tag team and the deepest story mode of any fighting game. Up to four players can battle tag-team, and two players can team up in the new co-op arcade mode or compete against another team online. Gamers will be able to choose from an all-encompassing line up of the game’s iconic warriors and can face other games in the classic 1 vs. 1 match, or challenge each other on several new game modes.

After centuries of Mortal Kombat, Emperor Shao Kahn has finally defeated Raiden and his allies. Faced with extinction, Raiden has one last chance to save Earthrealm. To undo the Emperor’s victory, he must strike Shao Kahn where he is vulnerable… the Past.
