Vanquish: Shooter Evolved

Sega Europe Ltd. And Sega of America has finally revealed details on the upcoming third person action shooter, Vanquish, developed by PlatinumGames. It will be available on the Xbox 360 and on the Playstation 3 on October 19th, 2010. Directed by the creator of the legendary Resident Evil series, Shinji Mikami, Vanquish is a sci-fi shooter that promises to be nothing short of epic. “We are delighted to have the chance to work with Shinji Mikami, one of the most successful and celebrated game directors in the world,” said Mike Hayes, CEO of SEGA West. “Vanquish is set to offer gamers the chance to be immersed in a truly cinematic gameplay experience, with the scope and special effects of a Hollywood movie.”

It is a time in the near future, the clock is ticking on the world’s energy resources, it comes down to the United States vs. Russia in a race against time to see who can capture and harness the energy that remains. The tide turns in the US’s favor as they have constructed a space station which is capable of harnessing the energy from the sun. As things look up they begin to go downhill as Russian forces capture the space station and divert its harvested solar energy into a blast wave that destroys San Francisco, with the intention of forcing the US into a total and unconditional surrender. Time and the odds are against you as you battle to recapture the station before the next target is annihilated, New York. Enter you, Sam Gideon, a government agent equipped with a huge arsenal of weaponry and deadly martial arts skills which can and will be used to take down his robot enemies. The Tri-Weapon pack contains a small arsenal of experimental technology, made up of the Boost Machine Gun, Anti-Armor Pistol and Laser Cannon. This triple threat of futuristic weaponry gives players an edge in surviving the frenetic and massive battles onboard the vast space station setting of Vanquish. The Boost Machine Gun is an early experimental with impressive overall fire power and the speed to dispense rounds similar to that of a heavy machine gun. The Anti-Armor Pistol fires a special penetrative shell and was manufactured to tackle hostile forces with much stronger armor. Finally, the Laser Cannon is a miniaturized space warship laser and is more powerful than any other weapon available for infantry.
